Conveyor Support Structure — Custom Fabrication, Mining Application

A custom fabricated structural support run for a mining conveyor system — an 18-meter A36 weldment fabricated in modular transportable sections and bolted together on site, sized against the fully-loaded conveyor belt weight plus material load.

The project

An 18-meter continuous conveyor support couldn't be shipped or handled as a single piece, so the structure was engineered and fabricated in modular bolted sections sized to the site's crane and haul-road weight limits, with each section's connection points match-drilled in the shop to guarantee correct alignment on site rather than field-drilling and risking a misaligned run. Structural design loads accounted for the fully-loaded belt weight plus material load, not just the empty conveyor's dead weight.

All structural welds were inspected per AWS D1.1 acceptance criteria before shipment, and each modular section was dry-fit assembled in the shop before disassembly and shipment to confirm field bolt-up would go together without on-site rework.
