The project
The mining customer's internal engineering standard required full material traceability from mill heat lot through finished part, plus third-party witnessed dimensional and hardness inspection, on wear components that see high impact loading in service and are expensive enough to replace that a documented quality trail justifies the added inspection cost. Each of the four components was individually traced to its original billet heat lot, and all dimensional and hardness results were captured under a scheduled third-party witness visit rather than self-certified.
The completed traceability and inspection package was delivered as a bound documentation set cross-referenced by part serial number, matching the format the customer’s own maintenance records system required for incoming critical spares.
